Sorry for the long thread but I just did some doom scrolling on twitter and I think I'll log out. It's just useful to comment thing like Sanremo. No wonder why my friends moved to Instagram.
I don't agree with many journalist that consider it a useful tool.
Also I feel that people that believe things just because they've seen it in a whatsapp chain are behaving stupidly. But I did the same a lot of time. A lot of tweet are just buzzing from inexpert people, or expert talking about things they don't know, without information sources. Just pub talk but with negative emotion. If you are italian and know Burioni you know what I mean.
What's the point of breaking filter bubble if no-one ever change idea and also the discussion is so poor that no-one even become enriched by confronting himself?
That's why I am using less and less twitter. I don't think anymore it provides me with useful information.
Mastodon is so similar but at least it doesn't have a quote by design so it make harder to shit to emerge. Also the fact that a lot of people want to build a better community purposeful and that some instance make natural bubble IMHO it's somewhat better.
Mastodon is not perfect but looking at my twitter TL sometimes I think it was carefully designed to bring the worse shit to my attention and to make tweet the worse shit to smart people. Also when the even smarter people correct them they almost always are aggressive and never assume good faith. They could be right but what knoledge do we want to build in this way?
