This is some heckin' awesome free software

@manux You're welcome to come back to CoderDojo at Level2 on any Thursday evening :)

Join us as a volunteer to mentor and inspire the next generation of hackers, makers and coders!

I've seen URI before on a few websites but just assume it was meant to be URL. Turns out I was very wrong and I've been using the wrong term for years 😂

https:// = scheme = host
/tootsuite/mastodon = path

host = URI
path = URI or URN
scheme+host+path=URI or URL

So if you're asking someone for how to get to their website, what you're really looking for is the URI; you don't want someone to spell out https;//, just When you want a full link (like copy/pasted), it's more accurate to say URL but URI is still correct.

Just thought that was interesting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Decided to try LibreOffice Draw for making rudimentary explanatory graphics, and saving to SVG is something that Just Works.

For all the problematic free software out there, some of it is actually really good.

Now watching Karen Sandler and Bradley Kuhn's talk at FOSDEM 2019 titled "Can Anyone Live in Full Software Freedom Today?"

I can strongly relate to Bradley Kuhn's experiences.

I wonder if there's even one person in the world who lives in full software freedom, which includes not outsourcing your proprietary software needs to others (which I'm quite guilty of, myself).

neighborhood organizing is some of the most important work to be done now. you can really make an impact by working on small projects alone or with a few friends.

and because you have the locality in common minor differences in politics don't matter as much ime. i organized with anarchists, marxist lenists maoists, and even progressive liberals. we just focused on getting shit done

Not sure if most Mastodon :mastodon: website users know this but you can create custom columns in Mastodon with just a selection of the people you follow. The feature is called Lists. To access click on the three horizontal bars with tooltip text 'Getting Started'. Then click on Lists and add just the people you want. You can create multiple lists if needed. I know some people read the manual but others don't. You can also see all your favourited items in one place

The difference between AI and Machine Learning?

If it's written in Python, it's probably Machine Learning.

It it's written in PowerPoint, it's probably AI.
